going to have to remove the banjo bolt on the rear calipers to change my struts just wondered what size of crush washers do i require ...anty help appreciated W
Just cut a slit in the bracket on the strut and bend down one side so you can remove the brake hose without undoing it
you can see what I mean on this strut
see i was thinking that ...im replacing the 2 rear coilovers on my tubby back to black billies ...on the coilovers the flexi hose is just cable tied to the strut body...would it be ok to do the same with the billies its for the MOT?...cheers fro the reply W
The washers are not 'crush-washers' They are simply copper washers. They can be re-used without problem despite what you may have read.
The washers will harden over time and when re-using it is wise to anneal them with a blow torch after which they will regain their original flexibility.

I have yet to understand why anyone that has any respect for their car and the individual components fitted to it would ever consider hacking at their struts just to save a couple of minutes of bleeding.

And the copper washers are crush washers, they're made of copper and squash when you tighten onto them: that's the whole point! When it comes to brakes why take a chance? They literally cost pennies to replace...do it properly
