What 3SGTE has been used in your chart? Presumably the Rev3,4 &5 units will be putting out more than the Rev1 & 2's?

I suspect the torque curve labelled 3S-GTE is actually a 3SGE torque curve. :thumleft:

I'd like a 3S-GE that has 200lb/ft torque...

The redtop Beams is about 150 so it must be a GTE...?

Does the engine have two throttle bodies?

Yes it certainly does, technically three because there is a third throttle butterfly linking the two throttles together at higher RPM, clever folks those Toyota boffins.

So much intake, so few ITBs

Seriously though it's a very intricate and interesting intake system. The fabrication looks immense. It looks to me, though, that both throttle boddies furthest from the plenum lead into one air chamber. Given that there is one air filter on the end, and one throttle body that both air passages lead to (if my assumption is actually correct...) then is it not really all for nothing?

If you can open a second throttle body at x RPM, I'd have thought you'd want two entries into the plenum. It looks like one entry.

The twin throttle body unit bolts to one hole on the plenum, so both lead into one, there are separate chambers within the plenum but they are for the ACIS system.

Not now, he's off to nursery school. Maybe after mummy has picked him up, but then he needs his afternoon nap.

Maybe a mod will just ban him.

How do these drive by comparison to the regular non-vvti engine? Also are they single VVTi or dual?

They're torquier and have a far more noticeable kick at higher RPM, the VVti is on each bank, so both cams on each bank are advanced/retarded together but not independantly of each other.

Does it kick in more like a vtec engine, or have a constantly torquey presence like the beams?

Makes you wonder why anyone would bother with a regular 1mz!

Chances of a 2gr-fse swap from woodsport...?

It has a more even torque delivery than an actual hard kick, but the VVti is still very noticeable, hard to explain unless you've driven one.

The non VVti engine is much cheaper, far more readily available and will do 90% of the job a VVti version does, so it's a great unit. I'm doing two non VVti 1mz Mk2 swaps right now.

2gr-fse won't ever be an option, the bellhousing bolt pattern is different to a regular 2gr-fe so cannot be bolted to an Mr2 gearbox without an adapter plate/custom flywheel etc.

What would be possible would be to combine a 2gr-fe block with 2gr-fse internals/heads to create a hybrid, but that would be megabux.
