2 hours flat

Post by synXero »

I was out fitting bits and bobs to the car, rinsing it off etc etc, and all of a sudden the aerial dropped & the music stopped. I assumed the battery was flat and took the car off acc. Ignition was on but engine was off if the terminology is correct. Battery charge indicator looked low (50%). Needless to say I removed the keys, finished up what I was doing, and then turned the engine over and it started. It flashed hazards twice and the starter turned very slowly. Nevertheless it started and I ran it for c. 10 mins.

This is the first time I've left this car on for so long without the engine running. I did once do it in my old 2 and the same thing happened - ended up replacing battery for peace of mind.

Is 2 hours the expected time to flat? Or is my battery goosed, or potentially not reaching full charge? My colleague's car will happily run the radio etc (and its glow plugs - which are more energy consuming than sparks I believe) for 9 or 10 hours - a 53 plate Megane 1.9 Vin Diesel.

How old is battery? 2 hours playing music would take a fair bit of juice out of it. Does it start ok now?

It starts fine now yep, and has been on and off as it were a few times since. Seems okay. Just a bit disappointing!

Battery age in this car is totally unknown.
