From first start of the day what is your idle speed....
And do you get a clean rev on a short sharp throttle blip?
Mine starts at 1500 and climbs to 2000. Im sure its not right along with the very slight dip when I blip the throttle as if there is a momentary loss of power, this only happens when the cold idle is high making me think its related
rev3 cold idle speeds

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Mine is at around 1500 rpm, with a freshly cleaned out ISCV. Doesn't dip when I blip the throttle either....
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Mine sits at about 1200 rpm from start up and doesn`t rise at all.
Ps thats on a rev3 tubby

Idle will be anywhere between 1500rpm and 2000rpm when cold so what your getting is normal

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
My tubby sits about 1200 when cold.
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
To add mines an na, a little reassuring to hear others similar idle. I worked on a rev2 today which sat solid at 1400
If i block my iscv hose it stalls instantl. I've also swapped complete throttle bodies with identical idle speeds just seems to hammer the clutch?

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Below 5c its up near 2000rpm but sbove 5c and its nearer to 1500rpm. In both scenarios it gradually drops to 900rpm in about 5mins of gentle use.

Mine's the same. Maybe about 1600.
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
When cold outside - 1500rpm
Warm outside - 1200rpm
Engine up to temperature - 750rpm
Headlights on and engine warm - 850rpm

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Edit double post
much lower!
I'm having the complete opposite, my rev3 turbo will just start, then idle at 750/800 from cold. Any ideas what I should be looking for? sensor to replace maybe?
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Most likely it'll be the ISCV (idle stability control valve) gunked up and not opening properly (or at all) on cold start. It's a part of the throttle body so once you've taken that off, it should be quite obvious
Have a read through this thread, JeffD done a great write up on what to do :

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Cheers for the swift reply, thats a good guide, i'll give it a go on the weekend.
Nice one

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
I cleaned mine twice and replaced it, made no odds. I know a few others have high idle but surely 2000 isn't normal....it drives itself!
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Did the same as you Dan, cleaned replaced and then replaced with a refurbed ICV unit, but i also have that momentary loss of power, while cold.
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Sorry Dan, my post was aimed at ponchcore's problem.
Maybe you have a slight vacuum leak somewhere?

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Definitly no air leaks!
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
What does it idle at when it's warm?
It might be that the TPS is out of calibration?

Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Usually 800 bit sometimes sits just above 1000 and then drops a few seconds later. Tps is fine and also swapped a complete throttle body
Re: rev3 cold idle speeds
Ok the only thing that's causing the high idle is the iscv, blocking the pipe to it stops the engine. It also relates to the dip when revved as if the idle speed is forced lower it revs fine...
So what initiates the raised idle....coolant temp, water temp in iscv, possibly air temp? Ive replaced iscv, coolant temp sensor and air temp sensor
