[Mk2] [Turbo] Engine Compartment Fan Warning Light / Fix - Rev 2 Turbo

Hi

Warning light comes on now and then - engine running fine. Have disconnected the sensor and the fan doesnt come on so not that.

Few Qs:

Where is the engine bay fan located? Followed the wire from the sensor and it just goes into the bay sidewall?

Fan aside, any other obvious checks I should do?

Done a few searches and looks like this fan keeps the bay cool, mainly for the intercooler. Do I need to even worry about fixing it?

The fan will be on the intercooler on the drivers side of the car.
If you disconnect the switch on the engine lid the fan should run constantly.
If that doesn't solve it then there is a relay in the boot of the car Carnt remember the colour off the top of my head but I had this same problem on my old rev 2

Great cheers - think its the relay - where would be good to buy one - new or used. Have checked on here, ebay and a few breakers but no luck??

I had this exact same issue on mine. There was an electrical surge and it fried my fan relay. Luckily another member on here who I will always be grateful to sent me a replacement.

That small box is more than likely the cause of your problems.

Probably best to either stick up a wanted advert, contact people who are breaking their mr2s on here or pm peter (he has probably got a few kicking around)
