[Mk2] [NA] front tie arms

in the morning i am going to be replacing all my bushes with polly items,
i have no worries fitting them, until i come to the front tie bars, as they appear to be adjustable, and caster is something i dont wanna be playing with, i have a caster/camber gauge but its a new toy from work and i aint confident with it! im changing from rubber to a hard compound polly bush so its more than likely going to change the cater angle, anyone got any tips???

There is a spacer tube that fits inside the bushes. When the nut is tightened the bushes will compress equally.

Yep. No need to touch the rear nut.

Just out of interest could you use rev2 + tie bars on the rev1.

Yes. Just need matching bolt-on tie bar mounts as well.

What one would you recommend out of the to. I only ask as i was doing this today and stopped when i saw they were different.

all went swimmingly there is nothing that isnt polly on the front of my car and it makes so much difference bloody looovely

peter i found when doing the tir bars that the o/s was slightly different to the n/s in thread length by around 6-10mm i put my spanky new gauge on and it measured different too, not by alot but i adjusted them up to match i didnt know which side was correct so i took a little out of both sides until they matched it now drives so much better than before and the steering is very very responsive, really just asking if you've seen this before as i find it hard to believe it would leave the factory like it??

Yes mine were different, more thread showing on one than the other.

hmmm maybe i should have left mine then! never had a car with different caster from side to side though! need some wisdom here!

Castor angle should be same both sides.

I would have to check this tomorrow but I guess it's possible that one tie bar mounting bracket is further forward than the other which gives the impression that there's more thread showing on one side than the other.

as i thought thanks peter, someone must have had a little play with my tie bars at some point in the past all sorted now though
