How they fit in the arches will depend on the width and the offset of the wheel. This offset calculator should help.

I use that calculator quite a lot, but have decided I dont agree with it.

According to the calculator, my current set up should see the wheels 3mm in from flush at the front and 2.35mm in from flush at the rear. But, in reality, the rears are still more inboard than the fronts. The calculator assumes that a one inch stagger and equal offset will result in equal flushness, but actually I think a one inch stagger and a rear offset that is about 7mm less than the front works out about equal. :thumleft:

Roll the rear arch lips so you can fit a wide enough to justify a 9j, i.e. a 255/40

7.5JJ+32 also flush front.

If you reduce the width of the front wheels, needless to say offset must drop (stick further out) to compensate. Theoretically, approximate flush fits would be...
8JJ + 35,
7.5JJ + 32,
7JJ + 30,
6.5JJ + 27,
6JJ + 25.

Note I am not experimenting with five different wheel widths, just approximating flush fits. As Marf said, if you fit a 9 inch wheel on the rear, the only justification for it really is fitting a 255 section tyre. So roll dem lipz!
