Sunroof or tbars or neither?....

Post by MR2 Rich »

Did all mk2 mr2's come in either sunroof or tbars? It's just I noticed on this car on eBay, it's a solid roof without sunroof is that original Toyota?

You mean without sunroof. All JDM cars were either T bar or tin top without sunroof. This one is an import turbo but has uk clocks fitted. 40k seems very low

no sunroof turbos from Japan

uk cars are t-bar or sunroof (t-bar have full leather in uk cars)
jdm cars have t-bar or tintops

so the only way you will get a right hand drive sunroof turbo is to buy a converted one or do a conversion.

Why? It's a rev4 turbo. (Tin top - import only, passenger side air bag - rev4+ import only)

The UK speedo has simply been swapped in for the old kmh speedo.

I've swapped my 180kmh speedo out for a UK 160mph speedo. No need for a converter, and has mph and kmh indications. Lot better imo.

Looks a clean car!

Seats could have easily been swapped out over the years prior to you buying it..

Simply due to the amount of ones I've seen with unknown mileage. Nothing against the car at all it looks immaculate, but changing clocks bothers me.

More so after last Sunday. See the conclusion to "identifying a geniune rev 5 turbo from vin plate" thread.

Mileage on that showed 77k km, but it most definitely wasn't!

With the Jap imports you will find a fair few that have had the clocks swapped out. I wouldn't be put off by it, especially if the car is in good shape and even better if there is some record within the service history to show the change. In fact it`s a good job done for you I think.

I had the original Jap clocks with 110mph overlay on and hated it. So invested in a set of UK 160mph ones and clamping delimiter at the same time. I adjusted the mileage on the new clocks to read the exact same (in miles) as my old clocks did in KM`s (so say 130,000km would be 80,000 something miles). I printed the purchase receipt off and a copy of the KM`s converted to mileage, the date it was done etc.. So if the seller can give you decent information on it and it`s legit don't be put off.
