Post by bigst3v3_x »

im under the impression that i can put the following on and effectivly fool my car to think its a gt4?

GT4 INLET
GT4 THROTTLE BODY
GT4 540cc INJECTORS
GT4 ECU

am i correct or will this just result in a mess?

So you're starting with a rev2 turbo are you? Which GT4 are you referring to - ST165, ST185 or ST205?

If you're referring to the ST205 then what you're essentially doing is a rev3 management conversion AND a GT4 ECU conversion at the same time, presumably without the chargecooler core that is entire the reason for doing the ST205 ECU work!

Instead, why not just do the rev3 management conversion that's a well known entity to the MR2 community. (AFAIK it's ECU, injectors, map sensor, remove AFM and possibly a couple of other bits)

yes its the 205, i had one breaking but only got the above bits off in time before it went, so was just wondering how much of a pain it would be to do.

Do you have a charge cooler or an intercooler? Running the ST205 ECU without an ST205 charge cooler and pump is a recipe for error codes. When the GT4 boys do FMIC conversions they use MR2 ECUs to prevent this happening.

The most useful bit you kept are the injectors - but I'd get an MR2 rev3+ ECU and either ST205 or rev3+ MAP sensor and do the management conversion like that.

Just to add to what the other guys said re GT4 charge coolers as a current ST205 owner with GEN3's. If you use an ST205 ECU in an SW20 it'll throw up a code 54 which is either non-functioning charge cooler pump or low charge cooler level (probably wont have PAS also as its mechanical on the 205). This is what happens when us guys go FMIC because neither is present to they do much mucking around with gen 3 PFC's for SW20"s as a cheaper alternative.

Just watch out if you ever end up with gt4 165 parts as they're gen 1 3sgte so not cmparable with much -but worth their weight in gold to GT4 enthusiats!
