Which Body Kit Have I Got???

Post by Shifty6Speed »

Hi all... Just curious to know what body kit i have fitted... As far as the few MR2 specialists who have seen it so far are concerned, they agree that it's rare and have only ever seen it in pictures but not able to comment on what it is as such...

All i know is that it was fitted by the Toyota dealership 5k miles into it's life. :???:

Please excuse the dirt and drab looking paint, i took these the day before it was washed and polished etc... Wrong way around i know! #-o You can see how the car usually looks on the last pic :D

Stock rear spoiler, Greddy front lip... that's about the best I can do.

It's not a kit, as such, more an amalgamation of bits.

The rear bumper is essentially stock plus 'diffuser' or rear addition. I have seen it before but will have to dig a bit to find again.

The skirts are MRD (no really I mean it this time guys!)

The wheels are TSW jobs, I think, but cannot be sure without better photos maybe.

Cheers for you input!

The skirts are Phoenix Power! I've had them checked this morning...

The rear is possibly a Kaminari and the front splitter is deffo a Greddy... It is a mix and match but i like it! If i changed anything, it'd be the rear for when i have a SS zorst system fitted again...

The wheels i knew already, they're staggered BK Racing 121's.

Right enough on the skirts. They're practically identical to MRD ones. However, you've got the more expensive ones if they're genuine! :thumleft:

edit.
Actually the second hole in the PP ones is more horizontal and less vertical by comparison. Interesting.

Yeah, apparently the first owner of the car was pretty flush and this is the set up he chose, he had everything sprayed and fitted by the Toyota dealership about 8 months (5k miles) into it's life...

It doesn't bother me that it's not a matching kit as such, it works well together i think... :) :thumleft:

Very rare PP skirts indeed, seen them change hands for £500 previously.

The front lip looks (IMHO) more like a Greddy as it extends quite far from the front of the bumper, the Aeroware protrudes less.

As you say, it doesn't matter where they come from they still work well with the body lines. Nice car Buddy :thumleft:

Taa very much! :) I do love it to bits, i'd love to V6 it eventually but that'll be IF i come into that kind of money...

I'm gathering the skirts are rather rare, i can only find about 3 pics of them on 2 different cars on google images...

I also can't find any further info on the rear bumper/splitter... it is very similar to Kaminari but not exact in the centre sections although i could be viewing the pics from different angles against mine...

The front is Greddy, i've vigorously searched pics of both Greddy and Aero splitters and it matches the Greddy exactly... :)

dont take any less than that if you sell them, they are ultra rare, Mainly only came on Phoenix Power Demo Cars unless you had over £1k to have a set imported in from Japan :thumleft:

That's pretty impressive! Yeah, i think £1000 is a nice round number and nobody will pay that unless they're mega desperate haha... I'm not selling them anyway, i like them! The car would look weird without them now too! Cheers for the info though :) :thumleft:

Sweet! They do look great in White, i've had 3 red mr2's now and i was adamant that i was going to go either white, black or Caribbean blue this time, but not... This popped up at the right price and mileage, so another red one it is haha... If i came into big money though it'd deffo be a re-spray and a slightly modded V6  :thumleft:

Nice car bud! :thumleft:
