I'd be interested to find this out as well

Is there really any advantage using greddy or berk intercoolers aposed to something like a cheaper toyo sports one
?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] toyo sports intercooler???
i guess its all down to how much power your after.
Im only going for around 300bhp any more than that and i would be thinking of ditching the Toyo Sport one

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] toyo sports intercooler???
Just a cheap and cheerful Greddy copy.
I had one on mine for years with no problem.

I used a shroud and Spal fan from gtschris
(As they're not included with the kit)

Some of the kits feature rubbish jubilee clips that should be replaced with Mikalor clamps.

Anything's better than the stock intercooler

Yeah, standard fan can be used.

Mikalor clamps are too wide for most automotive applications.

As Craig says, the Chinese clamps are pants.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] toyo sports intercooler???
Here is how my intercooler from toyosport setup the hoses are the wrong size had to modify them and the angles from where it joins the throttle body cut into it and close the gap and tig welded it so I gave myself the best chance of fitting the kit.

I also used 2 of the 3 stock boost hoses.

a tight Fit but for 96quid i think i paid much improved over the stock system.

Only thing i did notice when installed because the diameter of the piping is bigger it takes longer to pressurize the system as there is more area to fill and tiny bit of lag can't say I had a problem with the clamps they are top notch.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] toyo sports intercooler???
Disconnect the BOV.
That will sort out the lag between shifts.
If you can actually notice the lag before boost, dumping the entire volume of air from turbo to throttle body through the BOV each shift or lift isn't going to help.

Here's the same intercooler with one of our first pipe correction kits.

Makes it a perfect fit, and also allows movement within the pipework.
This reduces the common fault of snapping brackets.

I don't have a BOV can't run one with the AFM in place.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] toyo sports intercooler???
Larger diameter pipe does not increase lag as you describe
that logic is wrong
