If I remember correctly from changing my suspension over, there are clips that hold the brake lines to the struts. Bare in mind that they have been there for circa 20 years so they will take a bit of patience to get off.

Edit: Grammar was appalling.

People cut into the holder, twist it so that line comes out. Then can put the line back and twistthe hholder back into place to hold the pipe again.

Damn keyboard

You're suppose to remove the sliding spring clips that hold the brake line onto the damper bracket, disconnect the brake lines from the caliper and then thread them out of the bracket.

If you want to remove the damper without disconnecting the brake lines; remove the spring clips and then cut a slot into the bracket so you can slide the brake lines out, then slot the brackets in the new dampers.

The only way IMHO.

I've never understood why people are willing to butcher parts of their supposedly beloved pride and joy for no other reason than they can't be ar$ed to bleed their brakes. :?

Honestly? You lazy, bodging git!

I'd expect a slagging in Trader's Feedback if i did that to a customer's car.

Nic, the artful bodger! #-o

£600 of struts, and you butchered them rather than bleed the brakes? I'm speechless.

I'd expect a slagging off from my customers if I was to design a damper that couldn't be removed without having to disconnect the brake lines :D

The Toyota service manual states it takes 4.5 hours labour to swap one pair of dampers on an MR2, I wonder why that is?

No idea, but it takes less than 3 minutes to clamp amd release a brake hose. 3 minutes more to reconnect, plus say, 5 minutes to bleed. So that's 11 minutes extra per corner.

£350 and they'll swap over in half the time now, they were neatly filed down, painted and everything, more precision surgery than mindless butchery :D
