Repair panel - outer cill rear.

Post by Ja99a »

Anyone know if the MK2 rear portion of the outer cill can be purchased as a repair panel?

It finishes just in front of the rear wheel?

Mine have rusted through since leaving it on the drive through the winter with blocked drain holes....

If I can buy pressings might be easier than fabbing up something.

Any ideas?>

I made a repair panel from a flat sheet of 2mm steel. Took a couple of hours (first time I've tried!) but is fairly easy to do!

No. It's part of the rear 1/4 panel.

People just graft panels from other cars....

Unless you're feeling flush and fancy a new rear 1/4

MK V Cortina is a very close match (but i would do both sides). Could try buying the centre piece £82+vat and cutting to match the length of the rear piece - looks like the same profile.........

Whats a 'cill' [Laughing]

LoL, last time I went through this the outer sill repair panels from Toyota for the centre parts under the doors were the same profile -or near enough as at the rears. Did you check whether those panels are still available first, thwey're quite easy to see on the EPC -it was a few years ago since I did it now? The rear sill panel at the rear arch is the rear 1/4 panel, starts just behind the doors, finishes up at the roof and near the edge of the rear valance between the light clusters -a big panel @ about £380 a few years ago, probably more now.

61411 PANEL, ROCKER, OUTER RH
61411‑17050 1 $135.41

61412 PANEL, ROCKER, OUTER LH
61412‑17050 1 $135.41

....unfortunately the USD price is nearly always the same as the GBP price (it's too far back to remember wht I paid although it was less) but when I look at all the mucking round with fits it is perhaps worth the few quid difference depending on your viewpoint.

The outer sill repair section - part number 61411 in the above diagram - is in reality about half the length shown in that picture and comes pre-painted black.

I bought it a couple of years ago and asked Toyota to double check as it looked about half the length of the bottom edge of the door. It was a surprise to Toyota as well when I placed it alongside my car to show them.

I kept it anyway as it was the right profile and should have made it easier for the guy I got to do my sills when I had my refurb last year.
