Hi all
My speedo has stopped working and when i get above 60 mph the engine management light comes on..
What should i check?
It has done this before for a short while and then started working again..but this time doesn't want to start again
Cheers

Could be sender unit in gearbox, or speedo head.

my speedo had its own mind. Would work sometimes and then not at all.
I changed everything and was still the same. It turned out to be a dodgy delimiter. I took it off and working perfectly apart from its now working in KPH and not MPH.

Speedo has a converter or something fixed to the back of it i think....could it be anything to do with this?
how do i find out if its the gearbox sender?...are these very hard to access and change? are they expensive?
could it just be a dodgy fuse somewhere?

Agreed with previous poster.
Check if you have a delimiter fitted - it'll be behind the cluster. If so, remove it from the speedo signal circuit (the purple wire) and see if fault goes away.

if i remember correctly its a small square unit which is screwed to the rear of the printed circuit behind the cluster....was made by someone off this forum...can't remember who...all i know is that everyone on here said these were the best..

go with cheapest and easiest first, try disconnecting the delimiter as that's free.
Then go look at the speedo sender in gear box or the electric connect, sometimes these corrode/snap

Thats brilliant Alan - thank you
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] **Speedo stopped working**NOW FIXED**
thanks to you all - i have fixed the problem...it seems the delimiter is at fault so i have re-fitted my original speedo cluster which doesn't have one fitted and everything is working fine now

looks like we both had the same trouble. Glad you got it all fixed.
