I just chanced the four dash bulbs into led this summer, and after some advise from the mr2.com forum, i chose four
WLED Miniature Wedge Base bulbs (WLED-x5) Bought from superbrightleds.com.

These t10 bulbs spreads the lights evenly and hot-spots are eliminated. In other words - i highly recommend these led bulbs :)

How much of a pain was that to do, and is it distractingly bright at night ?

Was it this product ?

I got a set on ebay like these http://r.ebay.com/9cIaPu

Absolutley fine and no dead spots.

The type you don't want are focused LEDs like these http://r.ebay.com/I2tZHK

You will need 4 for your instument cluster

EDIT - Good guide here: http://mr2.com/forums/mk2-interior-ster ... bulbs.html

Yes it is the leds i have :) And they shine bright and clear at night, even in the day time it lights up. I chose the natural white to maintain the original cluster lights color.

It is not as tricky as i tough. But you have to spend some time to get it done. You have to take of the panels in the dash to get to the cluster. And if you have the mechanical gauges, you have to pull it out as far as you can and feel your way to the four twist-bulbs. You can unplug the speedometer cable, but i found it easier to just squeeze my hand behind the gauges and twist the bulbs out.

psummers has posted a good guide :)

Looks good :)

Personally i prefer white light in the gauges since i will hold my twos as close to original as possible. But as you have blue light in the clock and the extra gauges on the dash, it makes a nice touch to the mr2's interior :)

And the picks of the bulb in its stay is to good help fore those who haven't seen this actual bulb (i thing anyways ;))

Those leds can make hot-spots since they just have one led that's concentrate the light forward.

The leds i bought has a 220 degree beam, and with 4 bulbs in the gauges, it results in a even back light, without hot-spot.

Don't forget, the led bulbs will only work one way.
So if any don't work after fitting them.....take them out and turn them 180% and then refit.

Thanks :)

God choice to go with white. I think the clear white does the interior look more modern. And i do prefer the original line ;)

I've just upgraded my knackered old bulbs to LEDs after seeing a few threads on here.

Looking at fitting them this evening hopefully!! Hope you get the ones you're looking for! :D
