To lacquer or not to laquer

Evening all

I am just about to repaint the front lower quarter panels on my car in 3E5 red. Question is, should they be lacquered after painting red or not?

Also, what colour primer is correct? Halfords say white with their rattle cans according to the website but grey seems to be used in pics i see on here.

I'll be using 1k paint that i already have here, along with a proper sprat gun - not the Halfrauds aerosols

Toyota 3E5 is a single solid gloss colour, it wasn't meant to be base coat and lacquer.

Excellent - thanks Jimi. Someone in the past has sprayed both front wings with clear lacquer on my car!!

Out of interest, what are the rules for Super White II 040? Base paint lacquer cut/polish?

I'm fairly sure that Super White is a solid colour as well.

so im wanting to spray a rev 5 spoiler for my rev3 so i can just spray it and thats it no lacquer?

hi. jimi as always knows is stuff , these colors from factory would have been a solid paint ,only the metallic paints would have been base coat so they will need lacquering to get a shine as base coat is a matt finish when dry . you can lacquer over the solid colour to get a better shine ,example . you paint the colour eg red and you get dust in the finish you could flat with 1500 paper until imperfection gone and then clear coat over ,you will get a gorgeous finish . it does get more complicated though you can buy these colors ( red & white in base coat ) these have to be lacquered .it all depends on how far you want to go on the finish .

Will these new modern paints like halfords ones stop the paint going pink, and also would a laquer stop this?

The way to stop red going pink is simple. Just keep polishing it every week. It only turns pink as owners are just to lazy to keep on top of cleaning their car.

Not always the case. Mine has turned pink in an afternoon, whilst parked at work. obviously not massively pink, but it noticeable between panels which have been sprayed recently.
