[All] [Generic] Fujitsubo legalis backbox

Post by Baker »

Ive yet to see these exhausts without the two stripes on the backbox - looks like oxidation.
The issue on mine appeared recently, it does ruin the aesthetics i think.

Anyone know why this happens or how to get rid of it? ive tried polishing but doesnt seem to help.

I'm guessing it's just dis-colouration from the heat. My old Japspeed exhaust went a goldish colour after a while. Only on the pipework though, not the boxes :-k

Same here.

I removed my exhaust and used wet and dry paper to rub it down getting finer and finer grades as you go, then finish with autosol.

Got rid of my brown marks, this was last year, but now they're back.

I dont have those lines on mine but have a bigger one down the centre of the box it looks like oxidisation or heat damage but just got the car.I'll be looking at mine over the weekend and will post findings

Its defo from heat. Mine was pretty bad and then I used an old polishing pad in my da with auto sol and got it off after some pics at jae I saw made it look crap. Just started to come back and give it some elbow grease with the autosol and its shiny again

Mine has done this for the last five years too

Autosol removes it 90% of the time.when that fails out come the metal polishing wheels on the end of the drill - straight back to a mirror finish :thumleft:

I thought mine had died tonight :pale:

Was rattling in every gear at certain revs, quite badly :pale:

Gave the back box a tap to see if I could locate loose baffle or see what had broken, no rattles :-s

Open engine lid and notice the engine lid rod had came loose

Mine did it too. Autosol always did the trick regardless of how bad it got - it just took a bit more elbow grease sometimes . I wouldn't take the wet and dry to it, you'll go through the stainless layer much quicker than you would with polish and then you'll need to polish it every other day.

Mine seemed to be getting slightly louder lately, going to try another exhaust with a bung to see how I get on with that, but might be selling mine once I get it off and check condition and saving up for a brand new one from Japan :-k

I won one of these on fleabay last night for very little money. Seller clearly didn't like that and has filed a request to cancel the transaction as it's 'already sold'. Tenner says it'll be back on next week. :(
