Do I have a bracket missing?

Post by bigcw »

Here's some pics of the underside of my center console. It's been retrimmed, but it was so long ago that I took it out I can't remember if there are some brackets missing.

On the car I have little screw tabs like this:

...but the screws just go all the way through (the holes in the console are as big as the screw heads).

I'm guessing there should be some kind of metal plate to stop that happening. Can anyone remind me, please? Perhaps take a photo?

Cheers, Chris

Those screws have washers on, so that the plastic covers clip onto the heads. Are you using the right screws - it's common that when you've got the car in bits the get mixed up.

I thought so! I've got the caps, and the screws that the caps fit on. I think they have a washer on them too but I'd have to go and look to be sure.

sounds like the hole in the bracket has got messed up, should be kinda a slot. get some of the 'U' shaped screw clips and pop one behind and screw into that
