Take it to somewhere with a proper laser alignment system (a Hunter device or similar).

There's a list here: http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tyre-f ... entres.php

And as has been said above, you'll need an alignment after changing your bushes.

Because I'm not a mechanic and I'm only assuming that the suspension needs a refresh after 14 years.

Cheers for the link, might give them a call tomorrow. :)

A vagueness to the steering doesn't automatically mean lift. Worn rubber suspension bushes, tyre pressures, poor geo set up, alignment, incorrect RRs with aftermarket wheels, old loose steering columns... there are many things which can effect steering feel.
Start with the cheapest to correct (check pressures are spot on) and go through systematically...
What type of wheels/tyres and suspension are being run and how old are those components?

I can vouch for Wheels In Motion.
:thumleft:

Just explain what it is you tend to use your car for (road/track etc), and they'll adjust it accordingly. If you aren't happy they will adjust it until you are :)

Obviously lots of handy replies here, and just to add a couple more things.
I found that after fitting new coilovers, and adjusting the height as correctly as I could, this drastically reduced that lift feeling.
I also have a Bomex UAD 180 lip fitted, which kind of has canards/winglets at the outer edges, I've noticed this also seems to help.

ill be able to report back on the original post problem when my turbo comes back on the road its getting the following

full new poly bushes
new ball joints
new track rod ends and inner steering arms
used but good tein coilovers
new tyres on lightweight 15's
new antiroll bars/bushes/droplinks
full geometry setup

if that doesnt work ill stick 150kgs of sand in the frunk

Done all over those myself and still feels as if its lifting.

I'm now chucking the used coilovers away and buying a new set as i have found it just false economy using used ones. This is the 5th time on changing the shocks in 3 years.

I thought I would post my experiences with front end lift. This is a cut and past from another front end lift thread.

2mad wrote:Hi, I have the exact same problem because my pas runs all the time, my wheels were the other contributing factor, only found that out when I bought some new wheels and tyres.

My old wheels were non-staggered 7jj 215/40/17 front 7jj 235/40/17 rear and I had nankangs on the front.
I found this setup almost undrivable, the front was so light at any speed over 50mph,

Now I have staggered 8jj 215/40/17 front 9jj 245/35/17 rear, toyo t1r's all round.

Changing the wheels has minimized the feeling that the front end is lifting 'floaty' at speed, feedback is much improved and the difference in handling is like night and day the car feels much more stable, especially cornering.

Hope you manage to sort it out soon.

Kev.

Additional info. . I fitted cusco coilovers & top mounts all round on their lowest, hardest setting and new drop links all round. This nailed it, no more floaty front end lift problems or tramlining. When I stripped my front shocks down I found they were both compleatly blown, I cant see as they were doing much in the way of damping what so ever.

Since fitting coilovers I have removed around 20kg from the front of the car and it still handles spot on and feels planted at motorway speeds. I have even done some high ish speed driving (130mph, private road of course) and the cars fine, nice a stable.
My pas still runs all the time and I am ashamed to say not had my tracking done yet

As far as my cars concerned, Crap plastic nankang tyres , 7jj non stagered wheels and blown front shocks were causing my cars front end instability and feeling of lift.

Pas running all the time was not as big a deal as I first thought. Also I dont have front bumper undertrays fitted. I will get my tracking done soon  .

hopefully, whilst the car is pretty quick im after good handling too

the only trouble is with 15's other than decent pads theres not much i can do with regards to brakes, although some swear by std sized discs and carbotech pads so i might try then eventually

I've just fitted carbotech ax6 pads to the front of my car and they are awesome :D
They cost me around £150 to my door including vat and import duties from a seller in the us, I will pm you the details if you interested.

I went with these discs, only because I like the drilled and grooved look :eye:

Saving up for the rears now.

yes please mate that would be great.

i like the look of the cross drilled discs but for fast road / track use would use solid ones, plus grooved ones make a noise
