If everything else is known to be good, and you're getting the code, sounds like a new sensor to me. Might want to check its securely plugged in first...

So is there nothing to check other than replacing the sensor? What about the knock sensor signal? how do you check that?

Knock sensors produces an AC voltage in response to frequency. Unfortunately, Toyota use resonant frequency sensors, meaning they are tuned to listen on a certain frequency, normally 6.8KHz. Therfore testing them is very difficult since tapping the block close to the sensor with a hammer or spanner is not guaranteed to produce a noise within the required freequency range.
