Power Curve looks like a pair of boobs

Post by Poker Face »

As mentioned in a previous post I did a dyno run the other day and it had two humps but the second one bigger with the torque first one@ just over 4krpm and then 4.75krpm the power curve its in humps going on too.

Once I get my laptop back I'll try and put one of the plots up. Just looking at some older plots and they are the same only the figures vary and that will be down to the different type of dyno's .

Edit just noticed air fuel ratio is doing the same.

I know a picture paints a thousand words but any ideas?

Sounds like it needs a tune. What was it on the dyno for?

I thought it was a little less responsive so put it on the rolling road and managed to get an extra 20rwp with the mapping. Only got the engine fitted earlier this year.
The guy doing the map said I should look at the cause of the fluctuations first.
Could a dicky actuator cause this?

Rev 2 with rev 3 ug and AEM ems.

I put a post about 800cc injectors, this was one of the reasons I was thinking of an upgrade.

The power curve looks "normal " apart from a couple of dips at the same point in the graph as the torque rpm wise.
I will try and post some pics in the next day or so. Only got my phone at the moment and its a nightmare posting things with it.

Apologies for the one pic being 90 degrees out it just keeps saving that way no matter what way I rotate it.

Your fueling needs looking at, you can see the same pattern in your AFR's...what cams are you running, and are they on verniers?

I honestly don't know what the engine has it was ripped out of a GT-4 from JD Modified end of last year/ begining of this year. After my engine went boobs whilst mapping. I don't imagine he trasfered my Toda Cams over as that wasn't part of the deal.

I'll give them a call now I know what to talk to them about.

Thanks for the info.

That looks to be happening at peak torque.

Apart from the fueling being very rich there - possibly marginal HT / Sparks? A long time back I did back to back Dyno runs with old and then new spark plugs and was really surprised to see a reasonable gain (10 bhp) - car felt fine though with the old HT stuff on it.

I have en AEM ems fitted, thinking about it, a while ago it was running too rich and is now sometimes a bit crap starting up. Could be the spark plugs are coked up from running rich.

I'll have a look at that, HT leads are fairly new.

Well Ben you got me thinking and the car has been difficult to start so I looked at the spark plugs, and the appear fine but I ordered some new ones anyway. So once they get here I will change them. So I unplugged my ignition coil and plugged another one in and it started straight away. Cable tyed it in place for a test drive and felt like a different car. I'm not saying will of cured what was going on but at least I am enjoying driving the 2 again.
