If i understand correctly OP didn't know he needed different to normal, so ordered normal ones

If he'd been sent something else he'd have sent em back under complaint

That's what I made of his posts

This is it.

I bought some for a standard mk1, I didnt know if I had been sent the wrong drop links or whether I needed different links because I have a mk2 ARB.

I know now ;)

Now do you see what I meant Paul :)

I knew what you meant immediately Peter, I've been fitting mk2 arbs to mk1s for 15 years, my original post was perfectly correct.

I never said your post was incorrect Paul

I answered his question

Upon which, as can be seen above, he then understood that he has the correct links for a stock Mk1

LOL

Now you're being silly Paul

Of course I don't know more than the expert with 15 years experience :)

I simply added to what you had already said

What I said helped the OP

Varying points of view are what this forum is all about :thumleft:

PW@Woodsport wrote:Hi Sam, there is a large margin for error when modding them, as long as you keep each side identical lengths you can't go wrong really, half an inch either side of a parallel ARB is fine.

The length will be different from Mk1a to b mind you, they have different mounting points, so a rough measurement from mounting point on the shock tube to parallel ARB (with the lower balljoint on a jack/axle stand) will get you the correct length, but it wouldn't matter if you were out a little as long as each side is the same.

:thumleft: Thanks Paul.

Might be a job i do today along with the excellent no Bull Mounts

It's just the rear no bull mounts we get from Adam Chris, he doesn't do the droplinks as such, PM AdamH on TB and he'll sort you out :thumleft:

Cool, will do when I figure out what length I need. The twosrus ones I've got were too long. #-o

My contribution to the mix.

I used the Fiesta drop links un-altered (not shortened) on my Mk1b on Konis with 30mm lowering springs with a Mk2 rear arb, and the arb sits pretty much level to the ground when the car is down on it's wheels:

(This was just after fitting; it sits even more level now)

I do have a 3SGTE stuck in the back as well but can't imagine that making too much difference. They've been on for at least 3k miles now and have been fine. I guess each setup is different though; just thought it'd be useful info.

Hi Tommundy, interesting that you havn't "turned" on of the ends round to face the same way as the other.... i assume fitted like that it doesn't sit perfectly vertical?

not sure if thats an issue but most posts i have seen about fitting the MK2 ARB call for the drop link to be twisted around

It was last year that I fitted them but as far as I remember they were pretty vertical. I'll have a look under my car tonight to confirm and will take a pic if necessary. They're just ball joints on the end of the links so so long as they're not constantly at the extremes of their movement they should be fine afaik.

Cheers,
Tom
