[Mk2] [Turbo] Link G4 rev counter wiring..

Post by T.F.S. »

Hi

I switched to coilpacks with the link G4 a while back and have never got round to wiring the rev counter up!!!#-o

Can anyone tell me how they did theirs?, i understand there are a few different options?

I was hoping to use an aux output and wire straight to the back of the clocks?, or is there a wire i can intercept in the engine bay maybe?

Many thanks, Brian

Can you use the IG negative next to the diagnostic port? it's the IG neg behind the clocks that I took a link from as the signal wire for my rev counter/shift light.

Yea I might be able to, some work direct from the link output to the clocks like that and others need more work, thought someone on here might have done it before..

it depends if the signal is taken from the high voltage side or the low voltage side, if its low voltage the link can hook straight up to it...supras are like this

if it is more like a startlet (high voltage) then ill need to wire the link through an old relay to fool it into thinking it has a coilpack connected to it for it to work

Eye know how to do it :D.. done mine today as it goes! Im using a Linkplus G3 with 1zz cops and Stock Dizz sensor, im sure the G4 works the same.

I assigned an unused injector output to drive TACH in the drop down menu, then found the pin (i used inj5) and wired that straight into the engine bay fusebox as i dont have the old diag box etc.

Cut the wire if its still connected, your ecu Tach output wire wants to connect in to the multi plug connectorhere.

Then you need to remove the clocks, open them up, remove the rev counter and replace one particular resistor with one of a 10k value.

This one.

once done, that should be it! worked for me anyway :D

Edit-
I do believe a way to find out if your Link ecu is going to be able to give out a Tach signal is simply to connect it to the PCLink software, fire up the engine and see if the software displays your RPM or not.
