hiya
story is that i removed this from the car due to scrapping. its done tiny miles and never slipped or been on a track etc.
when i removed it from the car it was clean, i put it in the garage and rested the clutch plate onto the pressure plate.
come to selling and it looks like its made some surface rust. it was in NO WAY AT ALL stuck and the rust does scratch off with my finget so its just surface. it has NOT taken any surface off the disk at all, that will wipe clean.
Now question is... is it knackered? imo it will rub off when on the car with some welly lol but i do not want to sell it and upset someone.
you can see here before wiping clean:

It would clean up, defo don't fit in that condition.
You gotta be nuts to fit a 2nd hand clutch imo.

use aerosol brake cleaner on it and a rag to wipe it off. If that dont work then use a very light rubbing of sand paper (250 grit or finer) with the carb cleaner.

No harm in fitting a second hand clutch if its within good working condition! All depends on how much a new one would cost vs whether you really need one, mr2 clutches are not the cheapest of things, so why throw a good one in the bin. Seems some people have money to waste!
My Clutch is second hand, its holding 500bhp / 430lbft and still going strong

The cost of the clutch can pale in comparison to the labour charge to fit, then pull out again, and fit a new clutch because the s/h one failed.
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Opinions on this clutch plate
my clutch second hand cost £450. i saved £562 ...and thats not including any labour! (luckily i do it myself). Its been in there over 2 years now.
