would love to know what it is, after cleaning my engine bay up and not drivigng the car for a few months my engine is making the same tapping noise

so shims are over bucket on a rev1? ive not heard that before. would they not get flicked out all the time? how are they held in place? are they just pushed in. cheers.

just for anyone who is interested this turned out to be a faulty ht lead arcing onto the frame, nothing to do with internals after all.

That's lucky. Our Rev3 was making almost identical noises to that shortly before it suffered a massive internal failure which left it sounding like...
