boost.... or lack off

Post by 4ndee »

I brought a knackeered rev1 tubby. The compressor shaft had snapped off. There was an oil and water leAk to the turbo so I thought the shaft had overheated and broken. I brought a new turbo on here and fitted it Sunday. Now its not boosting. Any ideas. I have pictures of engine if helps

Thinking about it I have the standard dump valve and a Bailey dump valve fitted on the hot pipe.

Does it struggle to run?

If you have a boost leak the car will run terribly due to AFM getting a false reading and dumping wayyy to much fuel in there.

It did hunt when I first fitted it. Now it doesn't boost, I quickly put a boost gauge in last night. It's on -vac barely goes past 0.

ok update, had a look today. The actuator was stuck half open, so used a mitivac and it opens and closes every time now. The car still isnt boosting right, although it is boosting. It will reach 7psi approx but you really have to floor it. Otherwise it doesnt boost hard.

7 psi is actuator pressure, so the problem lies with the TVSV

does anyone have a diagram of tvsv? I am not really sure what to look for other than split pipes.

Has the tsv not been disabled as previous owner ran a boost controller?

cleared the diagnostic codes last night. And just re checked them, code 2-4 came back. Will this keep the ecu in safe mode? and is it a mass air flow fault?
