As per PM Alex, for £10 you can renew the inner cable using our tried and tested B&Q method!

I'm using the bnq wire with the metal part of electrical blocks on the end. Been fine for years.

They have been selling it on the roll per metre for many years, buy 4m and some solderless nipples from any bike shop, cut the old cable and pull it through, then thread the new cable inside the outer and secure at both ends. You don't even need to remove the outer cable and if you make a neat enough job of it, it can look totally OEM.

Hmmm, yes its a very long throttle cable on the MR2 of course Paul

Think I may have seen Bowden cable on sale at B&Q & then forgotten about it :)

The TCB one is complete (outer as well) Alex thats why its so expensive presumably :?:

Did the cable break or was it just sticking :?

Peter I think when we were rushing putting my head back together in the freezing cold, the part where it bends round to go into my jimi bracket was too acute an angle so it probably finished it off. It gets caught inside the sheath so doesn't release the throttle.

I have bodged it so it works for the next few days. Tied some string to the part on the mechanism that moves with the spring back to a fixed point on inlet manifold, so when I release the pedal the tension in the string brings the spring back, and thus the cable comes back so the throttle closes.

I couldnt slow down on friday, had to take it out of gear before I went into the back of someone. I have limited peddle travel at the moment but its only til tuesday so I am going to have to make do. Better than no cable at all.

TCB was £45.60 delivered so nothing thats going to break the bank. Trevor did have a brand new Toyota one but for £103 plus delivery I went for the cheaper option.

Not yet Peter, haven't been able to get the time off of work. Will do it friday afternoon as its early closing and I'll get home at 3.30 should be enough light left in the day to do it.

The bodge ive got at the moment is holding well, but as I can only open the throttle up about 1/4 of the way, its making accelerating and pulling away from sluggish indeed, but it works.
