They're not bushes, they're proper bearings. Only way to replace them is to buy the complete inner track rod end from Toyota.

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
Dont know about yours, but if you are talking about the end that bolts to the body then on mine its a bush.
As far as I know, no one makes a poly replacement for it - HOWEVER, if you order SPF 1330, cut off the chamfer edges at each end and then measure the width of your control arm and cut out a section of the middle of the bush to suit, you will have a suitable poly bush. Either cut the new tube to length or if its not too bad, use the old tube cleaned up.
You need to cut the chamfers off each end as there is not enough room to put it back as it comes.
It does work as I have just done this on mine.

Douglas

As Kaiowas says, it's a bearing, not a bush, on all Mk1s.

Paul,
I know that you have forgotten more than I know about MR2s but I can assure you that, unless we are talking about different things, my car has bushes. Could it be that someone has modified it previously or is it because it is an early model - built Nov 1984?
Regards

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
If we're talking about the rear track adjusting tie rod inner attachment then it's a bearing and not a bush.
All Mk1s have the same bearing unless someone has modified it with a non standard one.

Have to agree with foxy here but will bow to superior knowledge if I'm wrong, I'm certain mine also has a bush on the inner joint. I seem to remember it's a bush for mk1a's and a rose joint swivel for mk1b's

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
If a Mk1a has a different type of bush/bearing to a Mk1b in that area then i've learnt something new.
Can't say i've ever seen anything other than a bearing on the inner tie rod.

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
Alfie,
Thanks for that. At least I know that I am not going senile - yet!
Paul,
The ones that came out were definitely the same type as the other suspension bushes, i.e. rubber with reinforcing metal layer and steel tube in the middle. They looked a proper fit with lips at each end so I am thinking they were original and not a make do replacement. They are not as long as any of the other bushes so must have been manufactured to fit.
If bushes were fitted originally and changed to bearings later in the production run, I would expect all replacements would be bearings and therefore fewer cars would have bushes.
Regards
Douglas

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
If anyone is still interested in this, I have spoken with Paul and we now seem to think that early Mk 1s did have a bush not a bearing.
Below is a photo of my installation with a modified SPF 1330 bush fitted.

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
If I owned a car with bushes at the inner end of the rear trackrods I would want to upgrade to bearings

PS this thread seems to be incorrectly titled
The track control arm is another beastie altogether

Re: Rear control arm inner bush
I must disagree with you Peter. Why spend £125 when you can do the job for £32? I only changed mine as I was doing the rest. After 27 years and 117k miles they were still ok. Having replaced them with poly bushes I expect they will last longer than I will.

Douglas
p.s. Yes you're right, it should be rear tie bar.

What you have done will have made the best possible job with the type of trackrod end that you have Douglas
However, even a brand new polybush will flex slightly
Toyota changed to a bearing for a good reason

PS tierod is the American name for trackrod
I like to use traditional English
