Have recently come into the posession of two items

(1) a 16hh pedigree ex-racehorse

(2) an old unroadworthy but still decent mk1 fit only really for stripping

and I'm sorta thinking, could I marry up the two somehow lol

One puzzle is how to finally end the car-life of the '2 chassis. I'm not so sure if I can find a scrappy who will give me a VOSA Certificate Of Vehicle Destruction™ for nowt bar the the front wheels and a VIN plate lol

I've since moved up to the fylde, it's a very horsey area round here, my missus is very horsey too, but she hates the MR2

I'm trying to convince her. I figure, chop the frunk off, add some of them long sticky things that go either side of the hoss.. oh i dunno lol maybe I should stop smoking me pipe and daydreaming

Roadholding's not all that on a horse, well, mostly in the mane.

My few attempts at driving horse, brakes kept jamming on. Horse would hit the brakes, trying to throw me off. Horse failed in this, as I didn't entirely part company but merely ended up sliding down the poor thing's neck until eventually I was left sitting on top of the beast's head on the ground, holding on to the ears like handlebars.

At that point we both decided that the relationship was going nowhere and I gave up. I switched to motor vehicles instead, and Sally the tubby pony was left in peace, unpestered by me from then on.

a MK1 chassis is a heavy piece of kit to lumber an old nag with, and doing so won't make your mrs any more MK1 friendly

Don't listen listen to the neigh-sayers. If you're happy to pony up the (horse) brass required to do this then go for it. Don't let the negative 'whoah is me' people rein in your ambitions. Not that I'm trying to stirrup trouble!

I see everyone trotting out the old cliches, wish some of these were put out to pasture.

I like your idea, but it will be a mare of a job and will involve alot of donkey work, but I am sure that with the right attention the project will gallop away.

If it doesn't, then buy another MK1 and try again, get straight back in the saddle!
