Yes, and it makes a difference. On modern polarised electrolytic caps, the polarity is shown by the negative or minus sign marked on the cap's printed wrapper. Sometimes with an arrow pointing towards the lead.

You can just make this out in the first pic in the thread, where the marking shows that both caps' negative leads are oriented towards the centre of the PCB.

Bit of a thread revieval. I have bought my 10uf caps to do next week on a weeks hols. My question is, do the caps have a polarity as one leg is longer than the other. I know on LED's this makes a difference and just wondered if these were the same or can they just be put in either way round.
Thanks,
Bod.

Yes the caps are polarised, they will be marked with a "-" for the negative side (normally a black strip also) and the + side will have the longer leg ;)

Just line them up the same as the ones you take out and all will be fine ;)

I hope this helps.

OK, I did the mod on the left cap as my supplier only had 1.
It didn't seem to make that much difference so I'll have to do the other 1 anthor day. It was certainly not as quick as in the video. Oh well :(

Same problem over here, I also replaced just one capacitor and it don't seem to speed up the closing of the headlights.
Is the problem maybe our car is a Mk1a?
I also tried the auto-up function for power windows modification, but it didn't work neither. I figured out the relaybox of the Mk1a was different from the Mk1b (2 main relais are G4S (Mk1a) instead of G8S (Mk1b)).

Cheers,
