Didn't get a WHP figure for those that asked.

Reckon these outputs at these revs are what you'd expect for the cams.

Yay, finally got the geo done, well in respect of geo, the only thing you can adjust is the front toe angle!

So, got it set to parallel, ie zero toe in/out.

Took it to Selecta Tyres in Macc as Mark suggested. They liked the car and I got the, 'My mate has one of these, like it, want one etc...' but, they couldn't get their tracking gear on as it's too low, ie not enough gap between the wheel and the arch. So, they suggested Ears Motorsport which is handily down the road.

So off I trotted. Got it in there and to be fair the guys were pretty helpful and came out with their tracking gear and tried it on to see if it would fit. It did, so within 20 minutes it's all done. I must have been there an hour as I got into a lengthy conversation with the guy at the counter about the car as he happened to desperately want one too(!). Still all good banter and I priced up some AD08's for when I do get some 15" wheels. £84 a tyre so not cheap, but then again not cheap tyres really.

Drove it back, typical duffers left right and centre plus some guy who thought it was brilliant that his 4x4 Jeep could nearly keep up in a straight line, still was nice to have a straight steering wheel for the first time since I've had the car! Handling wise, well it never felt bad, reckon it's a bit better. Guys at Ears said that the fronts were parallel with each other, but not with the rear, so they sorted that out. Just chassis clean next month for the underseal and the dreaded MOT to go to then.

More news. Mark has finally got rid of the bit of hand towel cable tied round the vacuum pipes for the idle ups and done it properly, yay!

Now, I can have my headlights on without the idle dropping through the floor and activating the anti-stall on the ECU. Am very glad to get this sorted now my lights are on pretty much all the time.




Also, Mark is now busy fitting an OEM illuminated foglight switch. The car is now currently in this kind of state:





Nearly there with all the jobs ticked off.

As for AE86 life, well I have to say, I'm loving it, the heater works well, it's no probs to use in the cold and perhaps even more fun is to be had now the roads are nice and greasy. Only consideration I'm possibly thinking for the future is to put different suspension on as I really don't think the TRD suspension works well on UK roads. I think the way to go with this may be to look at uprating the ARBs and then running softer springs and something like Konis on the dampers. We'll see.

I really think it's just too hard full stop. For Japanese roads it's probably amazing, but not anywhere I've driven in the UK.

I think it's possible to get a good ride/handling balance with bigger ARBs and softer springs and adjustable dampers. Also if dampers are adjustable I can always firm them for the track.

Don't worry, it'll still go sideways with aplomb!

Scooby was tagged at home last week as well by some aunt who doesn't know how wide their own car is. Their lack of driving finess seemed to be matched by their arrogance as they just drove off WTF is wrong with people.

It just reinforces my view that 95%+ of people cannot drive for toffee. But, that doesn't mean they can't be honest and own up to damaging what is someone else's property.

That's 3 times it's happened to me now (not including the stupid cow that rolled into me then lied to the police) in 4 years and I'll bet it was at work like the other two occasions.

Guess I need to budget £500 a year for repairs due to useless COTHO's that can't drive/park, damage my car and drive off.

Anyway, rant over!

In other news, dropped the car off at Chassis Clean this morning. Picking up on Friday. Mark took loads of pics of the underneath which we'll post up later. Have to say am quite impressed by the condition of the car underneath now I've had a chance to have a proper look.

The guy will leave it over the pit so we can get after pics as well.
