can some one please help me with this?
basically I have had an auto electrician out to the car who told me that it was the alarm that was stopping the charge getting to the starter solenoid, so I got an alarm specialist out who checked everything and told me its not the alarm that's stopping the signal getting through he traced the wire back and found that it was the starter relay stopping the signal, so I've changed that but still there is no ignition, I know the starter motor works as I've had that out and tested, the only wire going to it that does not have a charge when the ingition is turned is the one that goes to the starter solenoid, someone please help I have a week to get the car up and running again and I am so close now I can smell it.
Its a rev 4 NA engine with a Rev3 loom and ECU.
if there is anyone in the Yorkshire area if you could come and help me diagnose the problem and even solve it that would be awesome!!..
Thanks in advance

You're right in the feed to the starter relay comes from the starter motor. You'll see a little ring wire that you clamp with the main power lead to the starter.
Have you earthed the engine ??!... get a negative strap off the engine / starter attachment bolt to the chassis of the car ! This is usually the culpret if you've had it all apart and painted everything up. Ignition on, everythings powered up, but nothing when you turn the key ??! Thats one suggestion...

sorry JJ could you be a little clearer?
You are right in that when I turn the key dash comes on, you can hear the fuel pump go to work but no ignition.
but I'm not sure what you're asking me to check here.
if you have any photos that you think may help describe what you mean too please post them I believe the earth is on the starter motor as it attaches in the same place as the main live feed that comes straight from the battery?

I dont know if this is related but while trawling the internet I stumble across this picture
on the right hand side of this photo there is what looks to be a thick earth wire attached I have one of these still laying around from the engine change, I dont know if this will be causing it but can anyone tell me where both ends of this attach please?
