[All] [Generic] Name of a tool

Post by Shmed »

I need a tool that I think exists, and if it doesn't, it should.

My turbo oil return (GT3076) needs tightening so I need a half cut away deep socket that will go 'around' the AN line, if you know what I mean. I'm not sure of the size socket I need, but just thought I'd see if anyone knows if they exist - kinda like a spark plug remover I think that goes round the lead...

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

they do exist yes, dont know if they have a specific name though
remember using one on an o2 sensor which was obviously quite a large socket
what size approximately do you need?
dont think they come in small sizes but could be wrong

Is he Irish? no offence, just some ligh heartedness :thumleft: )

You need what is known as a Lambda socket.

It's basically long socket in a C shape so the wire protudes out the side and you put your wrench bit in the top as you can't disconnect the wire from the sensor

Think of a spark plug socket with the side cut out about 2-3mm

Halfrauds do them cheap enough or you can just use a spanner. if there is room.

Got back under the car the other day, and realised if I just removed the downpipe, I could use a spanner! What a spanner :)
