[Mk2] [Turbo] Gear box oil cooler
hello i have a small gear box oil leak from the oil pipe loop on a mr2 turbo i have been told this loop is there to fit a oil cooler for when the box is used in a gt4 with a transfer box but what i need to know is do i have to keep this loop or can i just blank it off or does oil need this pipe to get from one part of the box to the next, ive tried to fix the leak but the threads in the box arnt great and the standard fittings are fairly short threaded if i had something longer it would pick up on good threads deeper in the box many thanks will

You need to keep it AFAIK, the oil is actively pumped through this loop by a gear driven from the input shaft of the gearbox.
The loop
*is* the gearbox oil cooler on the MR2, similar to what many cars use for power steering
/ auto gearbox cooling.

so, could the gt4 cooler be used instead of the loop?

Yes, but it may drop your transmission oil below operating temperature.
