boost problem when raining or has been raining :S

Post by Mr2ed »

Hi people new to the forum will introduce myself and put some pictures up soon :)
I have a rev 3 tubby and it has a very strange boost problem, when im at high boost (1bar) the car is fine boosts fine pulls well doesnt drop pressure in high revs.

however when it rains or has been raining the day before, the boost judders on the way up through the revs when the throttle is wide open. however if i turn the boost down to say 0.7bar it doesnt do this :S

and then if i reset ecu (pull fuse for 10mins) and raise boost back up to 0.9-1 bar its fine again ! cant work it out !

im thinking some kind of boost sensor but dunno what to look for :(

just to clarify the judder feels like a misfire but it does it 3-4 times from 4k revs up to redline.

thanks in advance :)

Some part of the ignition system is no good.

If it were me.... i'd replace the lot if it hasn't been done in the very recent past.

Coil, plugs, leads, cap , arm etc.

Probably the coil or king lead though.

It'll be something in your ignition system.

I had something similar and it turned out to be a split king lead(the lead that goes from the coil to the dizzy)

Check over and/or replace your ignition components :thumleft:

I had exactly the same problem you mention. It was the ignitor. Had it replaced. runs like new now...
