Date of liability is an incident of the tax or sorn expiring apparently, nowt for you to worry about I wouldn't have thought.
The car will have been built in '91 but not imported to the UK until '01, simples

Cheers for that as I didnt have a clue what it was all about, But I do now so many thanks to you both for the reply.

I know what this is and I know its going to cost £41 to have done but do anyone know just what is involved?? The MR2 was wrote off some time ago and been repaired and now has a full MOT so see no reason for the VIC as everything is the same and its just body work that has had repairs done.

DVLA need to check the chassis number to establish whether the car is the one that was damaged, then repaired or find out if its a ringer.
Whats the reg number?

If it was a cat C or D write off...would cost more than the cars value to repair...the VIC inspector has to see that the repairs have been carried out correctly and, as matey says, no iffy parts have been used as it could be a major repair.
My car was a cat C write off, but was only panel damage...
bonnet, o/s wing and door.
The VIC inspector didn't want to see it, although I still had to follow protocol and go through the process of offering it up for inspection because it had an insurance claim against it...at this point you won't have a full log book to the car.
The car must have a current MOT but doesn't need to be taxed on the day of inspection.
The VIC inspector was satisfied that my car was all ok and didn't want to see it...the log book came through shortly afterwards with no "cat C" tag on it. :thumleft:

text check it matey....see what happened to it.

Mine was a Cat C too, pnly reason we know is cos I did a txt check,
It happened in 1999 and txtcheck says it needs a VIC

but there is nothing that I can see on the log book & DVLA doesn't flag it up ether,

Where did it say on the log book about the Cat C?

On the bottom of the cover...logbook..."3, Special Notes"
If the car has been taxed scince 1999 then you have nothing to worry about...but you won't get a tax disc if it has an outstanding appointment with the VIC.
I used the txt check tht was about at the time...just before carspotter and webuyanywreck came out.
