Another Tyre Thread....

Post by samu23 »

Sorry for another tyre thread guys!

I had a rather hairy moment earlier so I think its time to upgrade the cheap crap on mine. Unfortunately the wheel sizes arnt ideal at at 17" and 7J not sure on the offsets.

So could someone recommend me a tyre size and model!

Cheers

Toyo proxies T1-R's

Not sure what sizes you will need.

Which are you running at the moment ?
And how were the circumstances ?

Perhaps the tires aren't the ones to blame

And I think there are better options in 17"...

If you "lean"on your tyres...those proxes will let you down...made out of jelly or something nowadays.

Currently running 205/40/17 and 215/40/17 and there different cheap brands all round.

The situation...I was doing 40mph on a straight dual carriage, gently accelerated to overtake a car on the inside lane. Then the back end just started fish tailing quite severely! I had brand new coilovers with full laser alignment set up only 4 weeks ago.

Any more recommendations for tyres I'd like to up the rear tyre size to 225.

What's your budget?

AUIU from speaking to Toyo the T1R has been discontinued in sizes above 15", so you'll be looking at the new T1 Sport which is not yet in stock, and is an unknown quantity.

205 is ok on the front but you need 225 or even better 235 on the rear. The Goodyear F1 are not bad or this one

I am in the same situation needing new tyres. I have 215/40/17 on front and 235/40/17 on the back. I have found it very difficult to find much choice for a 225 on the rear. If I were to go from 235 to 225 on the rear and 215 to 205 on the front, what if any difference would/should I notice?

I forgot to say, my car is a daily runner and in winter too. Presumably this varies the choice of tyre too. I put some Kumho's on in September and they have worn out after almost 10,000 miles.

:( 235 tyres on 7" rims dont work believe me! The difference when we put bigger rims on was staggering! If you want a top all round tyre thats also cheap you cant beat the Falken FK452s! :thumleft:
