Ebay 1994 Turbo

Post by strugrat »

Hi all,

First post, have a bid on this and am going to see it over the weekend hopefully. Its pretty local to me.

Anyone know anything about it or have any thoughts?

Cant post a link but it is item 260784867716 (not enough posts or something).

What sort of money should be reasonable?

Would really appreciate any help as new to the mk2 Turbos. Obviously can see the front bumper needs a bit of a touch up from the frontal pic

Thanks

Here you go mate:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/260784867716

15 posts required to post links/images. Just there to stop spambots :thumleft:

Looks a nice car, is there a specialist near you who can check the car out?
A mint, standard(ish) rev 3 turbo will usually fetch around £3-£3.5K.

I see it's had the UK plate holder fitted and toblerones removed and UK indicators put in the wings. Nice touch, not keen on Tom's air scoop though.

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

Glad it looks ok, I can see that the front bumper needs some touching up. In the 7th photo down on the bottom of the sill looks like a tiny bit of rust on the left hand end as you look at it but could just be my eyes playing tricks. Assume this will affect the valuation?

Is the car a rev 2 or 3?

Difficult to see from the pics but looks like a T bar too? Shame.

Early Rev 3 id say. Not much in the write up on it and not a very good advert. I dont like it when the bad points are not listed. Looks like a bit more than just a few scuffs and marks but then im OCD when it comes to stuff like that.

No mention of engine mods or work thats been carried out. Clocks changed . . . . why ?

If you really wanted this then id speak to them first before bidding or go and see it first.

For the money that its up for already and from the condition that i can see, in my opinion there are some cracking motors up for sale on here that are better buys.

Let us know how you get on........or are you actually the seller giving their car a free advert ? :-k

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I'm starting to think you're right, the guy hasnt bothered getting back to me, which does not instill much confidence.

 Ha nope Im not the seller (my Ebay id is ryan0070_2) just someone looking for a nice non t bar, rev 3 Turbo. Mods acceptable but no silly wings and huge wheels. All go/handling and no show sort of fella.

Any cars in the sale section that you know of and def worth a shout to the seller? If so could you post some links up for me.....? Please....... :D

Im in South Derbyshire....so if anyone knows of a specialist near by that could check cars over for me then I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

wouldn't touch it with a barge pole
if thats the best advert the seller can come up with,to sell his car
he doesn't deserve to sell it.
sums it up when he says, "what you see is what you get"
i would be more afraid of what you don't see.

Hey Ryan, wouldn't be fair me sending you particular links. Take a look at the Mr2's in the for sale section. You can see whats up for sale but also whats been sold. Have a look at what you can get for your money.

+1 ..... has no idea what the car is, no mention of mods and i doubt it's been properly maintained.

Yeah we're in the same ish town, hence the question as its local. But I am not the seller. He is from Newhall and I'm in Swadlincote, whilst they are very close they are not the same place!!!

Was supposed to be going to look at 2 tomorrow but they've both been sold. One from eBay (not the car in question) and one from pistonheads.

Fair cop on the posting classifieds links, will check it out for sure.

Thanks for your help fellas.

Oh one more thing are all the horror stories I've heard about mk2 turbo handling a load of rubbish or is there some truth to it?

From all the track youtube vids I've seen they look pretty planted to me. What are the 'done' mods to have them handling sweet?

Thanks

its just driving hard in the wet that you want to look out for (and snow / ice but thats the same with all cars) if your going around a corner in the wet and hit boost theres a high chance you will be facing the wrong way

OK what about this one, I am off to see it today.

eBay item 250811230210. Looks clean enough?

I had a look in the forum classifieds but nothing that jumped out at me I'm afraid.

That black one has been on there for many months. No reply from the seller when I enquired 3 months ago. Hope you have more luck.

I hope so cos I've only gone and bought it!!

Fun things arent they! Hope it turns out ok, there are a few marks on it but the guy is going to sort those out before collection properly and then I think its worth every penny.

Drove ok and turbo was starting to whistle from around 2.2k, no turbo smoke that I can see and all electrics work fine. Boost pressure made the gauge go all the way round which looking at the buyers guide seems about right.

Now just need to wait for collection hopefully 10days or so! \:D/

Can anybody point me towards a specialist in the East Midlands, preferably around Derby area?

I contacted the seller on the phone and he was very helpful and seemed a nice enough chap. Yey me!
