duvvaduvva has a Radtech core that needs a repair...pm him for details and price mate...nothing really affordable about a 500bhp build surely :thumleft: iirc 500bhp about the limit for Radtech charge coolers

As cheap as possible..

I think a complete second hand kit would be the best option. Just haven't seen a Radtec or any other good kit for sale in a month or so... I think £400 for a kit would be close to the limit.

Mmmm well mine is a custom setup but cost loads more than £400 sadly :-(

I've got a aqua tiger pump £150
Radtec rad £230 ish
Fancy addaptors £30 each (4needed)
Precision core good for 1000bhp 1400usd

But could you use the gt4 rad & pump? But can they handle the power you are after??

There are eBay cc cores around but I don't know how good they are :-k

3s wa doing a kit, not sure if they still do it though

I have a huge one .. Boot mounted chargecooler... works well... Not enough room in the engine bay and I wasn't buying a small one, sick of charge temps... do it once, do it right !

Intrusion is only minor, I still have a boot for shopping / case !

What cc core are you using mate? I'm looking at a radtech boot mounted, having talked to them they reckon they could increase the core length by adding another section, but it would be more restrictive as a result...so curious to see what you're running :-k

500 horses is pretty much the upper end of what I expect, but future proofing is always a good idea...

A GReddy SMIC will do you for 500bhp, might struggle on trackday though with inttake temps possibly.

I had a HKS sidemount on mine... 1.4 bar producing 420bhp and holding 38 degree temps on the rollers...

Stuck it on the road and would only be good for a couple of hard pulls, temps would start going to 60 degrees which becomes a mare for tuning as you're messing with the timing soo much on load at the top end.

Circuit... 4 laps.. and 65 degrees !! @ 0.9 bar... spoilt the fun of the day !! Sidemounts are no good for endurance... !! Dragway, occasional blast.. not a problem !

Any pics jj?

Toby.. I'll try and get some..

I'll try and find it ashman, I bought it 3 years ago !! :-k

Ashman .... I can't find anything on it now... but I did get it from the states....I know 3S started developing kits using the same / similar cores..

MR2toby > Heres a shot of a car they installed it too... my core looks very much like it :

This is not my engine bay, I stuck the unit in the boot as I have a top mounted turbo.

This is my engine bay BLUE ONE ( bit of tidying still needed ) but gives you an idea on how I've ran the intake pipes. I have cruise control on mine which is why it was important to run the hoses on the gearbox side of the manifold opposed to the pulley side. Water pump and filler neck in place of where 3S have fitted a customers. My fuse box I've had to relocate lower from the original position.

Chargecooler has 2x 3.5" inlet / outlet. The water feed and return is on the same side... not the best, but I've stuck a marine pump in place flowing 17 ltrs per minute.

Similar thoughts to Ashman, theres a lot of restrictive chargecoolers out there which is great for pulling air temps out, bringing them right down in fact, but struggle to flow above 1.4 bar... on a warm sunday we had the other week, a run to Whitby didn't see temps rising from 38 degrees from 1.6 bar runs... which I'm happy with.. I understand I'll sacrifice a few degrees for additional flow... but my MAT sensor is still in the stock position which does suffer heat soak.... I'm inclined to move that to the oulet of the chargecooler.

Look at the size of that baby wrapped in a blanket........Nice engine bay there mate.
The core in your first pic looks like a Precision Racing core if I'm not mistaken?

Dont know much about this company, been toying with the idea of getting rid of my boot mount, putting 2 large radiators there and having the chargecooler on top of the engine. Minimum pipe work and bends and hopefully kept cold with radiators in boot.

Advice though... try and get the fittings off the supplier for the water feed/return... Pirtek even after a 40% discount chaged me £48 for 2 of them !!

Nice engine bay there mate

Cheers Craig... although still needs work to make it look more asthetic to the eye... I'm a practible man though !

That is an awesome engine bay.
Are you using one of the Gale force 17l/min pumps ? Do you use the strainer they come with or just elbows? I've just had a strainer crack on me, releasing a nice fountain of coolant while driving...

It should be kicking about somewhere... you need it ??! I didn't use it, just coupled up the 3/4" nozzles to it :D

Can't remember if its a Gale force one.. but sounds like it !.. Diaphragm ones I've been recommending / using for years. The impellar type just can't handle any air locks or slight bit of back pressure if it ever occurs !

3/4" nozzles? are those the ones that come included with the pump or are they 3rd party made? I've got a replacement strainer and elbow already, gonna repair it later on - I'm just a bit unsure about the fitting on the pump...

Yip ! Sadly, as the elbows / nozzles are plastic, what it interlocks into is also plastic, so if theres any stressed pipework against it, has the potential to crack.. mount the thing properly and should be fine.
