[Mk2] [Turbo] rev 3 ecu swap

Post by michael17 »

hello

basically ive done a Rev 3 turbo ecu swap in my rev 2 turbo. so im currently still using rev 2 block and head.

used loom ecu etc mait sensor/adapter injectors map sensor igniter and was plug and play

just taken the car out for a drive and noticed it will rev to 7,250 when driven but in neutral it wont rev over 6k and you can hear it limiting dead on 6k, my friends rev 3 turbo will rev to 7.500 no issues

is this normal? is because the distrubutor on rev 3 is different to my rev 2 one?
ive adjusted my igniton timing as it was 5 degree's out to my rev 2 timing was. and it's still the same

and also my stock boost guage is always showing vac and very intermittent working from vac to 0 when on boost. and it never reads in postive.
i have aftermarket guage but i want stock one to work.

You need the ignitor from a rev3 car to rev over 6k

...and the stock boost gauge isn't worth worrying about (IMHO)

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Still in the garage...
