[Mk2] [Turbo] How wide rims & tyres for track? TRD widebody

Post by jarijari »

Building my 3SGTE MR2 with a TRD widebodykit and looking for some 17" or 16" wheels and tyres for track use.

Front 8.5x17" et35, Rear 10.5x17" et38 should fit nicely with my TRD bodykit according to the calculations I have done with MR2 Wheel/Tire Calculator.

How wide rims and tyres are you suggesting I should or shouldn't buy for track use?
Do wide wheels equal poor handling on a MR2?

Thanks for the link! Very informative read. Though they were dicussing about rim diameters not width! :(

After the read 15" seems to be the best for handling, but I'm still considering 16" diameter rims. Because of possible brake upgrade and it might be even harder to find proper 10"x15" rims?
