If this car was a 1987 Toyota Starlet that had been got at by Westwood and the crew on 'Pimp My Ride' everyone would be going 'that's amazing' and 'what a car' (maybe).

Who is this "everyone"? I think if you took a poll among Mr2 owners i'd be amazed if more than 1% actually liked it.

I remember endless red Cortinas and Vivas in the late 70s with a big 'L'-shaped white strip a la Starsky and Hutch.

Ah, it's not 1970 though is it? I don't put flock wallpaper in my sitting room for the same reason, it's bloody horrible :D

A world of conformity wouldn't be much fun now, would it?

Agreed, i'm guilty as charged there (looks at V8 Mk1), but i think there's a world of difference between tastefully modifying an Mr2 and slapping a load of tatoos and Halfords crap on it.

Everyone

I meant 'everyone' as in Joe and Josephine Public. Whoever pimped this car wanted a budget head-turner and that they certainly got. It's about audience I guess, but I agree, it would not be to the taste of most people on this forum.

A flock interior would set it off nicely :D

I'd buy it, to be honest there's not much on that that cannot be sorted. I like the wheels and I like the seats.

The rest of it looks like pull of vinyl graphics, so can probably be removed and given a good polish, the red paint looks in good condition, the steering wheel cover and gearknob can always be changed for not alot of money.

The fog lights can also be removed, though, I'd be inclined to utilise the wiring a fit a smaller pair onto the front grill.

So really, not alot of work and you could have what looks to be a reasonable MK1 for not huge sums of cash.
I am going to live forever, or die trying!
