cheap mk3 ?

Re: cheap mk3 ?
Doesn't seem bad money! Provided it's not eating oil!
Re: cheap mk3 ?
Cost it out, and if you swap the engine yourself it's worth it even if the engine IS knackered... (which you should probably bank on with a price like that lol).
If I had a spare 2 grand I would snap it up and give it the real engine it deserves! Need a new kitchen though. ar$e.

Re: cheap mk3 ?
the cheapest ones do seem to have hit around the 1k mark now, talking early damaged or blown engine ones, good place to start for a project/engine swap

I have a green one and.... I thought that I'd hate it looking the pictures.
Collected the car and it's a different story as everyone I know loves the colour. Honest.

Yeah, to your face
I don't like it at all, but each to their own. I hate silver cars too, but that's what every body buys, so I'd rather a bright colour I wasn't keen on than another generic-shade-of-dull car.

Girlfriend loves it, neighbours love it, dogs love it, cats scratch it. Fantastic. Bit bright and does attract small kids who point in amazement and young lads thinking it's blinged to the max Power init.
But, as you say, some don't. For instance, someone shouted from across a car park, "Sh*t Colour" as we got in. Thanks for that.

what engines do you suggest?
the reason i was thinking 3s is bacause its a toyota engine and they are often interchangeable and also i have one that i could put into a new home

The 2ZZ-GE 1.8 is the obvious easy choice, for ~190bhp. 3S-GTE is a fairly involved swap and require some chassis modification, but do-able and very fast with plenty of potential to tune for more power.
There are a dozen or so 1MZ-FE 3.0 V6 conversions floating around as well. A similar amount of effort is needed for one of these. Good for 200 - 220bhp out of the box depending on year.
The ultimate is the 2GR-FE 3.5 V6 with around 300bhp and bags of torque in a nice lightweight bulletproof aluminium engine. Quite a technical installation but very rewarding. Obviously, the most expensive of the lot by some way!

Frog car you say? Never catch me in one that colour
... Whilst I love the 3S in principle it's just too heavy for my liking.
All-aliminium is the way to go. Personally I do like the idea of a K20.
Think it's been done somewhere.

Yeh think there was a mk3 k20 swap featured in an episode of Best Motoring a while back

Give it time - it's gone from 1500, to 1400, to 1300 in 7 days so far! lol
I'm very tempted, but I'm not convinced it's the cheapest they will be over the next few years - the odd one in this price range is probably just the beginning of the price truly bottomming out. Look at mk1 prices still - guess that'll be the mk3 price range eventually!
Roof looks bloody awful in the pic with the hood up - impressively knackered.

Blimey on the price.
A hood can be repaired, looks to be strapped up wrong at least. Might indicate a swapped roof done wrong?
