Dont think you would have blown the turbo at 1bar unless it was on its last legs. I would get a compression test done etc, could possibly be a blown head gasket as the rev1/2 have a weak head gasket and dont like the boost being turned up

but to check your turbo pop your air inlet pipe off the turbo and inspect it for play and if it turns freely, if all is good that end it could be the other end where you would have to remove the downpipe to inspect to other side.

just removed turbo and intercookler pipes and there seems to be quite a bit of oil in the pipes is this normal? also the turbo has a bit of movement inside. is it a big job taking the turbo off?

quick update, think the turbo is fine. the car only starts but wont idle or rev at all, just been told cylinders 3 and 4 are the problem as it runs exatly the same when these are both taken out, im baffled now, im thinking along the lines of it being head gasket as thats the only thing i can think of :( ha sany one else had these symptons?

Doesn't sound good im afraid. Have you checked for anything simple? Like ignition leads popped off or anything? I would suggest taking it to a garage if you don't know what you are looking for. Pacific-Works are not too far from you. If it is only running on 2 cylinders you may have a problem driving it though. Good luck

I'm not an expert but normally when there is a loud bang followed by the engine not running on all cylinders it's pretty bad. Last time I heard a bang it was my gearbox spitting it's innards onto the road. Have you done any basic checks? Holes in the block? Spark plugs? Oil level? Etc? Ate you a member of AA home start? You could call them.

I bet you a pound to a penny you've blown an Intercooler hose off...lol...rev1 and 2 won't run with that sort of air leak...it will either be blown off the IC or have a hole in it...my old silicone hoses fatigued and went exactly the same way....BANG...SORT OF WHOOOOSH...fkn hope it's that anyway matey, can't see it giving up the blower or 2 pots with much more of a fight than that ah kid.

mine made a pop then had oil coming out the dump valve. Cylinder 3 had ate itself lol.

Compression test is the first thing to do!

Just a thought, was the compression test conducted properly, im no expet but surely you would have had some sort of reading?

I know how you feel dude, ive been in much worse situations.

Put some pics up of your car, gotta love the old skool Rev1&2's...

Rargh come to think of it fella, id say its your headgasket!...Reason being I once blew a gasket on my 106 Rallye some years back, only to find the the compression on 2 cylinders on one side of the engine were low on compression as the gasket had actually split between the two cylinders. Get yourself some breakdown cover, drive it as far out as you can and get it towed to Luke. I promise you he will sort it at a price that wont bust your wallet.

Dont give up hope like I once did and start cutting corners!!.......

Just to add, I once had a vacuum pipe come off in my engine bay, it popped off once giving me engine failure lights and the car just would not run, barely wanted to start. Only if your compression test was done correctly though.

Also intercooler pipes do pop off and you get no boost.

well it had a tiny bit 1 & 2 were about 150 and 3 & 4 barely showed up, think its time to break it as gearbox is getting crunchy too so means even more money to be spent , im sure il get another one in a few months ;) cant get any photos up on here for some reason[/img]

If you've got nearly no compression at all then the valves are likely screwed. They're wedged open / bent and won''t seal / stems are bent and won't move. Head off for inspection would be the next move!
