Hi folks,
Right, I want to get to the bottom of the GM knock sensor debate, and would like to hear from people who have used them. I'd rather avoid the usual conjecture. What are peoples experiances of using them?
Thanks,
Mike
Hi there i need a knock sensor for my rev2 turbo looking to get a gm one, does anyone know which gm one is used? Like for which gm model of car? so i can find out how much they are.
seen them for sale on the gts chris website for 67.99 already machined to fit so they must be cheaper than this? cheers
cool mate nice one. just my turbo has eaten up two sensors already in the last 3 years, paid 107quid for a new one last time getting tired of blowing money on them lol
if you're blowing knock sensors then something isn't right on the car. Fix that and the GM sensor won't be needed (which also doesn't look at the same frequencies so isn't all that useful)

This^
I've been running the stock rev1 knock sensor for 8 years, and as far as I know it's still the original, even after the numerous setups and abuse, it's still in one piece.
I wouldnt fit a gm knock sensor unless they listen/are tuned in the same range as stock, which I don't believe they are.

Use a better grade of fuel, lower your boost or back your timing off as they are all trying to blow your engine up and its only the knock senser that is stopping it.

thanks for the replies, well yes i was running too much boost when the first sensor went didnt just blow the sensor also did the headgasket and cracked a piston.
car is going back on the road soon will be running standard boost and ignition timing.
Going to go for a used toyota item
