Hi,
I'm trying to change the damper settings for my car I currently have Tein Super Street fitted to the car (came already installed with them) .
Now this may be a really stupid question (so apologies if that's the case), but is changing the damper settings as simple as turning the silver/metal adjustment knob by hand at the top of the dampers or do I need to do something else (such as turning the hex bolt underneath)?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Henry

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
But dont what ever you do go over 16 clicks clockwise as this will most likely damage the damper itself, goto full anti clockwise till the stop then this will be the softest setting then click in clockwise till deisred stiffness,
pop on teins website for more info dude

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
You sure thats right??
Unless Im mistaken then their PDF says to start from fully clockwise (to hardest setting) and then go anti-clockwise until you get to your desired setting. Not going past (16) the softest setting. ie: The opposite of what you just said.
http://www.tein.co.uk/installation_manu ... /qbt04.pdf
(Page 7 of the PDF)
If it wasnt so damn early, and cold..., Id go out and check on mine. On mine Im 99.9% sure I go fully clockwise until it stops - and then go anti clockwise for a maximum of 16 clicks from there.
Dont care which of us is right, just dont want the OP to screw up his teins.

Pritty sure I'm correct on this one, you will only feel the stop turning anti clockwise

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
I agree with tomiam, fully clockwise is fully hard and do not go more than 16 clicks anticlockwise or you will damage the damping.
Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
Just to make sure I wasnt being misleading Ive just been down the garage and checked.
It is fully clockwise until stop - then unwind anti-clockwise but no more than 16 clicks.
Ive actually just done that on mine to be 100% sure. Ive got Tein superstreets with pillowball uppers.
If it really helps, do what I did and get four stickers made up giving the adjustment instructions and stick one to the side of each top mount.
Hope this helps

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
Huh , unless the super streets differ from the mono flexi's wich I have, but wouldn't have thort they would, I'm heading home now to double check but I was almost 100% sure the stop was when goin anti clockwise I.e to stop the adjusting nob coming out of the damper?
I'm goin to double check when I get in to make sure

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
Ok I have just checked my mono flexi's and my old mans super streets
Both hit the stop when going full anti clockwise, I clicked in from 0 (or full anti clockwise) till I got to 16 an went one more just to so if there was a stop there which there wasn't

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
ok so i have done a little light reading on the net and as said by some of you guys already any further than 16 back from full stiffness is when the damage can be caused to the damper, but the weird thing is both mine and my fathers hit a stop when goin full anti clockwise, but dont hit the stop when goin goin clockwise

Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
anyone know how to adjust cusco coilovers Cheers
Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
If its not on the topmount the Cusco one will be underneath so u have to jack the car up
Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
Ddi anyone ever get a resolution on the Tein adjusters? I gathered from the manual that turning fully clockwise, then turning anti a number of turns was right, but my superstreets hit a stop on the anti-clockwise, but not clockwise (like Gav).
Also, when my coilovers were off the car, the springs could be moved around. Does that mean they need adjusting? I have no engine in my car at the minute, hence no weight, so can't really judge how the car sits.

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

My super streets lock beside the hardest setting
Re: Tein super street damping adjustment
I've got another couple of questions on Tein coil overs....
1. Is there a correct orientation of the front pillowball mounts?
2. How do you adjust the ride height, and ensure they are the same on both sides?
