Dodgy garages

Post by sam1176uk »

I won't name the garage or car but just been to view a nice rev 5 with 73k miles, was all set to go for it when i did an MOT history check on the dvla website to find the mileage was 130k during a failed test in April 2010! It has a new MOT on it from September so obviously it's been clocked and then put through a new MOT.
It also had an advisory list the length of a football pitch, how dodgy can you get!

In the interest of other Imoc members being ripped off it would be best to name the garage!!

i agree, nothing wrong with naming and shaming a rip off garage. saves a genuine person who might not know the ins and outs of the mr2 from buying a duffer!

This is TRUE. I reported a mot station to the ministry for doing dodgy mot on dangerous cars that should not be on the road. Yeah we all like them for passing a car with hi emissions but not rot boxes so a garage can sell them on. my dear mrs bought such a car from the ba****ds

Unfortunately it can quite often be the case that the friendly garage who does you an mot with the emissions of a brand new VW Polo will be the same garage who will sell a death trap to an unsuspecting person...

just a thought -its not an import that they have changed the kms to miles is it? ( although if my maths is right 73000 miles is 117482 kilometers not 130 K - should be 80778.2 miles)

Investigate and fine them if they are found guilty, they could also close them down or remove their MOT license, or revoke the testers license but leave the station alone.

All depends on how bad they are, if they are really bad then VOSA can get involved and the garage is in trouble.
