Poorly rev 3 tubby

Post by Hurstie1981 »

Hello,

Its been a while since i last posted on here, but some of you may remember me.
My Rev 3 tubbys been hit in the rear by an old gimmer, and its been declared a total loss. The only reason they say is because new parts are nearly impossible to source from Japan.
Ive found plenty of spares online.
Now, im just wondering what to do? Do i sell it to salvage, or try and fix it.
Its only done 60k miles, its a rev 3 GT and was imported for me in 2005. It had a full respray before coming over, and since then ive added an R*SR exmag exhaust, a greddy profec b boost controller, decat etc.

Ideas please?

sorry about your car fella.
i would take the insurance payout, but tell them you want
to keep it,they normaly knock off the salvage value
and give you the balance, plus the car.
if it is cost effective to you, repair it.
if not break it and sell the parts.
either way you should end up with cash in pocket. paul.

Dispute it, when mine got squished in a 3 car incident on the M1 they were using a guide price for a UK car which was about £1750. It wasn't until I pointed out that it was a facelift import model that they got a 'specialist' assessor to look at it who got it right.

You can also point out that Toyota UK still supply all parts for these cars, regardless of whether they are imports. There hasn't been a single part I've ever ordered for mine that has been marked NLA in the system (no longer available).

Good luck!

Thanks mate, i got a decent settlement in the end after emailing lots of research, however i still have the car and i think its a worthy project for someone if they want it.
Apart from the rear end, its in superb condition.
I just dont have the time to repair it :(

I cant break it myself as i dont want to see it in that poorly state.
How much do you think i could sell it for, as say an accident repairable vehicle?

Would you be willing to sell everything bar the body panels, interior and front suspension...

So i'd take the shell, engine box and wiring? and whatever is left on the rear suspension....

I'd even come strip it for you!
