[Mk2] [Turbo] cracked downpipe...again

Post by djpkins »

For the second time my Rogue downpipe has cracked, and not across the bend as you might suspect but from lambda flange heading up towards the studs...I will get it welded for a quick fix but will have to replace with a better one....which are considered the best. had a motoria copy that looked much better in it's construction than this one but sold it in favour of this one as it was from Rogue.

Does this downpipe come with/need a supporting bracket?
In my experience almost any downpipe can fail if its not supported with a simple bracket between the b-pipe and the block.

I've had an xs-power (:clown:) downpipe and bracket installed for over 5 years without any problem.[/i]

yeah...I'm gonna get a berk or Tb one with a flexi...this one can be welded for the time being and will be in the bin the next time it lets go...it's only about 18 months old...bad design to not include a suport bracket really, particularly as it came from an mr2 specialist.

My turbo had a Rogue downpipe on it for 6+ years without failure. I think I only fitted the bottom bracket after a couple of years use.

My exhaust flexi was a lot less susceptable to engine tilt because the old braded one had been replaced with Flexible Gas Pipe

EG http://www.westerntydens.co.uk/accessories.html where it says Flexible Exhaust tubing

It would concertina very easily.

I think any pipe subject to repeated push-pull has the potential to break... Just how many Greddy manifolds have been known to crack?

I use the Berk decat pipe. This is why i bought it in the first place.

It looked so nice i put it on the dinner table for a couple of weeks before fitting.

My brothers had an ebay downpipe on his for 3 years without issue yet.

I'd have a good check of your engine mounts aswell, make sure you haven't got to much movement going on!

shmed...thats a blatant and shameless hijack of this thread for your own dispicable pupose..hahahahahaha :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

My engine mounts are sweet...front and back are polyurathane and there solid...there must be good ones and bad ones, still going in the bin though..lol..are these stainless? or is it just a lash of silver paint?
