[Mk2] [Turbo] Smoke after throttle release

Post by r10crw »

Gents I am suffering fairly heavy smoke only after releasing the throttle with the turbo making boost. Is this typical of the seals in the turbo failing or would this smoke constantly? It def sees turbo related as I can drive without any boost and theres n smoke.
Thanks Craig.

Thanks Bob,
Since the turbo is making boost okay Im hoping its just the oil seals. What would the typical rebuild costs be and can anyone recomend a suitable place to carry out the work.
Also the turbo is a CT26 Hybrid although I dont know who amde the Hybrid. The car makes 310 BHP so guess it must be a hybrid but not sure?
Thanks Craig.

Its going to be more than just the seals. When it gets to the point of smoking the bearings have gone and the wheels may be rubbing on the housings.

I have all the parts to rebuild a CT26, please PM me for details.
